EVANS, ELIZA CHIVERS, October (?), 1884 – September 3, 1964
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Malad Fourth Ward LDS Chapel for Mrs. Eliza Chivers Evans, who died Thursday at the Oneida Hospital. Bishop J. Arthur Servoss officiated.
Family prayer at the home by J. Arnold hall.
At the chapel service the organ prelude was by Myra jean John; invocation, Jesse Hughes; benediction, Fred Gleed; speakers were Bishop Servoss and Thos. W. Richards; obituary, Elaine Castleton; musical numbers: vocal solo, Jenkin L. Palmer; vocal duet, June Ward, Marcia Waldron, accompanied by Myra Jean John.
Concluding rites were at Malad City Cemetery with Raiford Benson offering the dedicatory prayer.
Casket bearers were Craig (?), David P. Evans, Jr., Dennis and Michael Jones, Wayne Jones, Burke Peterson, grandsons of Mrs. Evans.
Mrs. Evans was born October, 1884 at Malad, a daughter of James T. and Mary Richards Chivers. She was married to David Parry Evans on December 6 at Malad. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of the LDS Church.
Mr. Evans died in 1934.
She was an active member of the LDS Church and was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, Lavina Camp Chapter.
Survivors include a son, D. P. Evans, Malad; five daughters, Mrs. Evan G. Jones, Mrs. Hy Peterson and Mrs. Dewey Jones, all of Malad; Mrs. Iril Zundel, Sparks, NV; Mrs. Carol Godfrey, Midvale, UT. Surviving are 16 grandchildren; ten great grandchildren, a brother James R. Chivers and a sister, Mrs. William E. Evans, both of Malad.
