Services Held For Mrs. Eleanor Hill
Funeral services were held at the Malad Second ward Tabernacle Tuesday, Feb. 26, for Mrs. Eleanor Lewis Hill, with Bishop Harold D. Jones in charge. Arch Harris gave the opening prayer. The speakers were J.M. Isaacson, S.A. Hendricks and H.O. Kent. Musical numbers were rendered by Hawell Williams and daughter, Marguarite and Margaret Boam, Mariam Talbot played the prelude and postlude. E. E. Richards offered the closing prayer.
The burial was in the St. John cemetery with Thos. J. Lewis dedicating the grave. Mrs. Eleanor Lewis Hill, daughter of Lewis Lewis and Eleanor Lewis, was born in Glamorganshire Wales, on January 29, 1867. Her parents brought her to Malad when she was six months old. A few years later the family moved to St. John. She had four sisters and two brothers, all of whom have preceded her in death. Her sister passed away at an early age. Her brothers, Nephi and Williams, left large families many of their children and grandchildren living in the Malad valley. Her father, Lewis Lewis, was Bishop of the St. John ward of Latter Day Saints for many years.
On January 20, 1890, she was married to Andrew N. Hill. They established a home in St. John and were blessed with eight children.
In 1927 they sold their farm in St. John and moved to Caldwell, Idaho where she resided until her death February 22, in a Boise hospital.
Funeral services were also held for her at Boise on Sunday in the Summers chapel with Bishop Willie Peterson of the Second ward conducting.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, Lewis, Boise; Wallace, Caldwell; three daughters, Catherine H. Robertson, Boise; Hazel B. West, San Carlos, Calif.; Isabel Hanson, Kimberly, Nevada; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Out of town people in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Frank Robertson, Lewis Hill, Boise; Wallace Hill, Caldwell; Mrs. Lester West and daughter, Catherine, San Carlos, Calif.
