Joe Hirase, beloved husband, awesome dad and great friend, passed away on May 22, 2010. Joe was born on January 21, 1928 in Lyndyl, Utah to Toraye Ukegawa Hirase and Hikotaro Hirase. He married his life partner, Mary Sugaya Hirase on March 24, 1962.
Joe loved life and he loved to laugh. He was a golfer, fisherman, bowler and gardener. He provided well for his family and retired from Albertson’s in 1993 after 23 years of dedicated service. He proudly lived his last days in Malad, Idaho, in the log home that his son-in-law, Bill, lovingly built.
Joe is survived by Mary, his wife of 48 years, his daughter Joanne Hirase-Stacey and her husband William Stacey, his dog Toby, his grand dogs Maggie, Isam and Zebekiah, his sister, Eunice Yamane and Edythe Haraga, his brothers Sam, Ben and Frank and a large extended family of in-laws, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving parents, his wonderful brother, Kay.
The family would like to extend its thanks and gratitude to everyone at Oneida County Hospital and McKay Dee Hospital for their compassion and care. Such kindness is a gift that will be appreciated forever.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy Utah at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing from noon – 2:00 p.m. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens.
