Edna L. Farrens (Birth 22 Nov 1913/Death 14 Aug 1994)
Edna L. Farrens, 80, 8388 West Buckskin Road, died early Sunday, Aug. 14, 1994, at her home following a lingering illness.
She was born on Nov. 22, 1913, at Arbon Valley, Idaho, to Francis F. and Gertrude L. Cole Binggeli. She moved to Pocatello with her family, where she attended schools.
She married Eldon A. Farrens on Dec. 21, 1940, at American Falls, and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on Feb. 2, 1962.
She enjoyed hunting, and loved the out-of-doors. Mrs. Farrens was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and had served 14 years as Primary librarian, and in other church callings. She had the distinction of being one of the first women involved with her husband in ward teaching, now the home teaching program.
She was a 50-year member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Pocatello Aerie No. 119, and a member of the drill team for more than 20 years.
She is survived by her husband, of Pocatello; four sons, Alfred Farrens, Cheyenne, Who., Eldon Farrens, Imperial Beach, Calif., Dock Farrens, Pocatello, and Don Farrens, Draper, Utah; three daughters, Gertrude White, West Valley, Utah, currently serving in the Little Rock, Ark. mission, Mary Lee Rush and Rose Ann O’Brien, both of Bennington, Vt.; 35 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She also is survived by three brothers.
She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter-in-law and a grand-daughter.
Memorial services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 1994, in the Highland LDS Second Ward Chapel, 2000 South Fairway Drive, with Bishop Gordon Dixon officiating.
The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 19, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the family home, 8388 West Buckskin Road. The family also will receive friends at the church from noon until service time on Saturday.
Services are under the direction of the Henderson Funeral Home, 431 N. 15th Ave., Pocatello.
