EDITH REYNOLDS TOVEY

Edith Reynolds Tovey, 85, longtime Malad resident, died August 20, 1989 in Nampa, ID. She was born January 12, 1904 in Malad, a daughter of Taliesin and Alice Evans Reynolds. She grew up and was educated in Malad, and had attended Malad High School.

She married Lester M. Tovey, October 12, 1923 in Pocatello. He died July 8, 1966. After her marriage, she had lived in the St. John and Daniels areas where she and her husband farmed and ranched. They moved from Malad when Mr. Tovey became superintendent of the Idaho State Parks. She had then lived in several areas of Idaho. She returned to Malad in 1966 after the death of her husband where she has since resided.

She is a member of the LDS Church and served as Relief Society President and Counselor, Sunday School and Primary teacher, Young Women’s leader and ward librarian. She has also been a daughter of the Idaho Native Daughters.

She is survived by six sons and eight daughters: Lester of Idaho Falls; Terrell, Hermiston, OR; DeForest of Germany; Weldon, Moscow, ID; David B., Orem, UT; Donald Paul of Blackfoot; Mrs. Kay (Muriel) Call, Metolius, OR; Mrs. Cleve (Kay) Morgan, Soda Springs; Mrs. Kent (Mari Alice) Neilson, Kennewick, WA; Mrs. Herb (Sandra) Fritzley, Homedale, ID; Mrs. Art (Jackie) Riley, Spokane, WA; Mrs. Paul (Linda) Crader, Bend, OR; Leslie Tovey and Mrs. Tom (Paul) Harber, both of Las Vegas; 60 grandchildren; 76 great grandchildren; one brother, Rex Reynolds of Ogden, UT; one sister, Mrs. David (Merle) Lusk, Aberdeen, ID. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, one brother and one sister.

Funeral services will be held in the Malad LDS 2nd/5th Ward Chapel. Burial is in the Malad City Cemetery.
