DeVere Tovey, (1913)

TOVEY, DeVERE, May 11, 1913 – November 29, 2006

PRESON – DeVere Tovey, 93, passed away, November 29, 2006 at Pioneer Valley Retirement Lodge in North Logan, Utah. He was born May 11, 1913 in Malad, ID to George Chivers and Florence May Reese Tovey. He married Lora Butler on April 4, 1940 in the Logan LDS Temple.

DeVere was an avid Utah Jazz and Utah State Aggie fan. He went to every Aggie basketball game he could. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club and an active member of the LDS Church. DeVere was a graduate of the University of Idaho. He was a lifetime farmer and manager in Oneida and Bannock counties. He worked as the Franklin County Agent for 20 years and considered himself a dedicated weed fighter.

DeVere is survived by his two daughters; Raida (Richard) Jensen, Caldwell, ID; and Joyce (Brent) Terry, Idaho Falls, ID; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Elaine Rumsey of Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lora, a son Gary Dee Tovey, a daughter Lora Tovey, a grandson Shane Paul Jensen, a great-grandson Zachary Dahl, and two brothers Ralph and Alvin Tovey.

Funeral services were held Saturday, December 2 at 11:00 a.m. at the Preston 3rd Ward Chapel in Preston with Bishop David Noyes conducting. Interment was in the Malad Cemetery.
