Services Saturday for Earl Apgood

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Malad First Ward Chapel for Earl Apgood, age 78, who died Wednesday (27 Mar 1963) at the Oneida Hospital of a heart condition.

At the funeral home, family prayer was by Bishop G. Howard Neal. At the chapel, with Bishop Conrad Alder officiating, organ prelude and postlude music was by Mae Williams. Invocation was by Frank Allen. Musical numbers were vocal solo, Barbara Apgood; violin duet, Fern Willie and Marva Gray; vocal solo, Eldon Corbridge. Accompanists were Pauline Buehler and Mae Williams. Speakers were Errol Williams, Wm. H. Rutter and Bishop Alder, who gave the obituary. Benediction was by Rosell Mills.

Concluding rites were conducted at the Malad City Cemetery. Dedicatory prayer was by Byron Mineer.

Flowers were arranged and carried by Malad First Ward Relief Society members. Services were under the direction of Benson Funeral Home.

Honorary casket bearers were Tom Dennis, Lloyd Peterson and Stanley Thomas with casket bearers being grandsons, Morgan Mifflin, Barton Mifflin, Max Mifflin, Ronald Allen, Gerald Allen and Lyle Apgood.

Mr. Apgood was born June 15, 1884, a son of William H. and Elizabeth Frazier Apgood at Wanship, Summit County, Utah. He was married to Dora Blanch Maxwell, January 29, 1905, at Coalville, Utah. Marriage was later solemnized at the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Dec. 15, 1916. They moved to Malad in 1907.

Mr. Apgood was a retired farmer and an active member of the LDS Church.

Survivors include his widow, Malad; three sons and two daughters: Elton Hugh Apgood, Shelley; Elmon Earl Apgood, Blackfoot; Theoress Maxwell Apgood, Palo Alto, Calif.; Mrs. Gertrude Reed and Mrs. Joe (Ila) Allen, both of Ogden; 13 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers and four sisters: Lozene Apgood, Pomona, Calif.; Marvin Apgood, Idaho Falls; Ervin Apgood, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Edith Wright, Twin Falls; Mrs. Leslie (Flora) Murphy, Bluebell, Utah; Mrs. William (Belva) Olsen, and Mrs. Earl (Theo) Deverous, both of Rigby.
