Douglas C. Newsom 70, died Tuesday morning, August 12, 1997 at a local health care center in Pocatello. Mr. Newsom had lived at the Malad Living Center for the past two years.
He was born on July 16, 1927 at Pike County, Kentucky, to Ernest and Roxie E. Jones Newsom. Doug attended schools in Kentucky and Idaho.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and family photography. Doug was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by two brothers, Walter G. Newsom and Kenneth K. Newsom, both of Pocatello; a sister, Dorothy Newsom, Idaho Falls; and a step-brother, Ellsworth LeRoy Godfrey, Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Teddy and Robert; a half-sister, Darlene Rae Shuck, step-sisters: Vee Corbridge and Jerry Nygren and step-brothers, Edward G. Godfrey and Bobby Godfrey.
Graveside services were conducted Friday, August 15 in the Mountainview Cemetery.
