MALAD, Id. – Dorothy Hadley Bloxham, 88, of Malad and lifelong resident of Downey, Idaho, passed away Saturday, December 4, 1999 at the Logan, Utah Regional Hospital.

Dorothy was born on November 17, 1911 in Swan Lake, Idaho, a daughter of Alma and Elizabeth Panting Hadley. She graduated from Downey High School in 1929. She worked and attended business school in Salt Lake City prior to her marriage on April 24, 1931 to Thomas Isaac Bloxham in Pocatello, Idaho.

Shortly after their marriage Dorothy and Thomas purchased a farm west of Downey, where they reared their four children. The family was sealed in the Logan Temple on November 10, 1952. In addition to rearing her own four children, Dorothy helped her son Gordon (Pete), rear his two daughters, Joni and Pam..

Dorothy enrolled in a nurse’s training program at the Downey Hospital, and passed her State Boards in 1952. She worked at the hospital and as a nurse for Dr. Leo Burkett for several years. While working at the doctor’s office she was able to meet and associate with the good people of Downey. She often talked fondly of her years of nursing.

Throughout her life Dorothy enjoyed gardening, reading, writing, traveling and caring for animals. She especially enjoyed her trips with family members. She was lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in several callings. In 1992 Dorothy and Thomas moved from the flat to Malad.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, one son Gordon (Pete), two grandchildren, Marty Treasure and Tamara Thorpe Price, and two brothers, Dean Hadley and Vivian Hadley. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Blair) Thorpe of Malad, Idaho, and Elizabeth (Dee) Treasure of Roy, Utah; one son, Buster (Madlyn) Bloxham of Hacienda Heights, California; one brother, Robert (Gwen) Hadley of Swan Lake, Idaho; and three sisters, Lucy Spackman of Richmond, Utah, Berniece Beckstead of Murray, Utah, and Eva Stuart of Twin Falls. She has 15 surviving grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Wednesday, December 8, 1999 at the Malad Fourth Ward, 20 South 100 West. Friends may call at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N.; in Malad, from 10 a.m.. To 11:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in the Downey City Cemetery.
