Donald N. Johns, 58, Blackfoot died Thursday, Jan 12, 1995 at the Bannock Regional Medical Center in Pocatello, from complications of scleraderma, a debilitating skin disease.
He was born May 11, 1936, at Malad, the son of Nephi B. and Elma Swartz John. He grew up in Malad and graduated from Malad High School. At 19. he went to work at the atomic energy test site for Westinghouse at the INEL, and received university-equivalent on the job training as a chemical engineer. He retired as a senior technologist on August 1, after 37 years with the company.
He was married to Judy Pierce on Sept. 2, 1955 at Pocatello. Aside from a year in Idaho Falls,and a short stay at Basalt, Blackfoot has been their home throughout their married life.
 He was a member of the Cedar Hills Gun Club, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting fishing, camping, working on old cars, and golf in his spare time.
 He is survived by his wife, Judy Johns of Blackfoot; his mother, Elma John of Malad; three sons: Doneal (and wife, Marsha) Johns of Blackfoot; one daughter, Mrs. David (Teresa “Terry”) Carlson of Firth; one sister, Mrs. David (Fairlene) Reid of Tustin, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
 He was preceded in death by his father.
 A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at the Packham Mortuary funeral home chapel. The family will greet friends Sunday from 7 to 9 at the funeral home, and again on Monday just prior to services.
 Burial will be at the Aberdeen Cemetery.
