Don Edward Hill

HILL, DON E. – July 10, 1942 – January 22, 2006

IDAHO FALLS – Don Edward Hill, 63, of Idaho Falls, died January 22, 2006 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

He was born July 10, 1942 in Pocatello to Edward and Farlie Jones Hll. He grew up and attended school in Pocatello. He worked summers on his Uncle Cliff Jones’ ranch in Malad, and worked at Idaho State Hospital South in Blackfoot before moving to Butte, Montana to work at the Montana State Hospital in 1968.

On August 24, 1968 he married Arlene Mary Donovan Butte.

He received a bachelor’s degree from Western Montana College in Dillon. He taught school for three years before returning to the Montana State Hospital, where he worked for 16 years as psychiatric technician. They moved back to Blackfoot to care for his mother, and he worked at Idaho State Hospital South until he retired in 1995. They moved to Idaho Falls nine years ago.

He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and was a Eucharistic minister, lecturer, greeter and usher. He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed golfing, reading, horseback riding and writing, and was a member of the Idaho Writers League.

Don was a loving and caring person and an extremely loving husband who loved doing his duties at church, and enjoyed interacting with everyone with whom he cam in contact.

Survivors include his wife, Arlene M. Hill of Idaho Falls; and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Albert Dee Hill.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2006 at Christ the King Catholic Church in Idaho Falls, with Father Joseph McDonald officiating. Rosary services will be at 7:00 p.m. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, Idaho Falls. The family will visit with friends after the rosary service until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
