Dee Williams Call

Dr. Dee Williams Call (Birth – 21 September 1922)

Dr. Dee Williams Call, 66, died Friday, Nov. 25, 1988 of natural causes in his home in Salt Lake City.

He was born Sept. 21, 1922 in Malad, Idaho, the son of Bertis Dee and Maude Williams Call. He married Helen Louise Jones, Sept. 15, 1944 in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

He graduated from Malad High School, attended Brigham Young University, graduated from Temple Medical School, served 28 months in the U. S. Navy. He was on staff at LDS Hospital and Primary Children’s Hospital. He practiced general surgery for 32 years in Salt Lake City.

He competed successfully in high school and college athletics. He was chairman of Salt Lake City School Health and Athletics Committee, team physician for Westminster College and East High School, member Board of Trustee and House of Delegates of the Utah State Medical Association; member of the Utah State Medical Association, International College of Surgeons, American Society of Abdominal Surgery and Western Society of Surgeons as well as chairman of the Utah Medical Political Action Committee.

He was an active member of the LDS Church and was a high priest in the Ensign Fifth Ward of the Ensign Stake.

Survivors include his wife of Salt Lake City; one son and four daughters, Dr. Gregory Kent Call, Mrs. John J. (Kimberly) Reale, Jr., and Mrs. Fredrick M. (Barbara Jo) Barth, all Salt Lake City; Mrs. Karl T. (Karen) Haglund, Boston, Mass.; Mrs. Douglas L. (Susan) Stevens, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; his mother, Maude W. Call, Malad, Idaho; three brothers and three sisters, Max L. Call, Dr. B. Darrell Call, Dr. B Reed Call, Anna Peterson, Carolyn Williams and Lois Laws.

Funeral will be Wednesday, 11 a.m., Ensign Fifth Ward, 589 18th Avenue. Friends may call tonight, 6-8 p.m., Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple and one hour prior on Wednesday at the church.

Burial in the Malad Cemetery.
