David Rulon Ward, Sr., (1938)

WARD, DAVID RULON, SR. – October 25, 1938 – July 15, 2003

David Rulon Ward, Sr., 64, of Las Vegas, Nevada, loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend died at his home July 15, 2003.

He was born October 25, 1938 in Ogden, Utah, growing up in the Malad, Snowville and Tremonton areas. He is the son of the late Rulon Ward and Rose Ward of Sugar City, Idaho.

He graduated from Bear River High School and attended Weber State University and Brigham Young University on athletic scholarships. He loved sports, nature, golfing, fishing, telling a great story and reading. We will always remember his infectious laugh and his twinkling eyes.

Dave was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a proselyting mission in the Central States Mission, spending most of his time in Oklahoma. He enjoyed teaching the gospel. He was indeed talented in many areas and traveled extensively, never knowing a stranger.

David married Mary Lynn Ipsen of Malad, Idaho, later divorcing. He married Rebecca Rae Ashton of Salt Lake City, Utah. He loved his children, his grandchildren and his brothers and sisters. He had tremendous love and respect for his parents Rulon and Rose Ward and helped with the family ranch during his early youth and adulthood.

Dave is survived by his mother, Rose Ward; his wife, Rebecca Ashton; his sisters, Karolyn (Arlin) Bartschi and Stelia (Spencer) Daines; his brothers, George (Shelia Ward and Allen (Julie) Ward; his nine beloved children: David (Janene) Ward, Jana (Sid) Ashcraft, Jacqueline (John) Olsen, Dean (Brenda) Ward, Jennifer (Troy) Sayer, Jeri Anne (Rod), David Paul Ward, and Rebecca E. Rolsie Ward. Dave left behind 38 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 31, 2003 at the Sugar City Stake Center

David will always be admired for his determination and strength.
