Alice Marie Jones Ward, 19 September 1921

Alice Marie Jones Ward, 81, passed away March 26, 2003 at the Franklin County Medical Center in Preston. She was born September 19, 1921 in Malad, ID, the daughter of Lawrence Daniel and Alice Marie Covert Jones. She served her country during World War II as a Navy Wave stationed Kansas. While serving the military, she met LeRoy James Ward while dancing – something that they always loved to do. They were married on March 30, 1944 in Hutchison, Kansas.

She loved to play golf and was the club champion. She enjoyed playing cards and was a life master in bridge. She loved playing the piano and played for many years at the Presbyterian Church in Preston. She won many bowling tournaments. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Tulsa University and worked for the Acock Insurance Agency in Preston for many years.

She is survived by her husband, Jim of Preston; three daughters and one son, Barbara (Jed) Dunkley, Las Vegas, NV; Susan (Harold) Smith, Coeur d’Alene, ID; Beverly (Marc) Banner, Boise, ID; Jimmy (Kym) Ward, Franklin, ID; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Julie (K.P.) Thomas, Las Vegas, NV. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Jean Byrd and Jane McMillan, and a brother, Larry Jones.

Funeral services were held March 31, 2003 in the Preston Community Church in Preston, with Reverend Scott officiating. Services were under the direction of Webb Funeral Home.
