Darla Dean Mifflin Peterson

PETERSON, DARLA DEAN MIFFLIN, August 6, 1929 – November 24, 2006

LAYTON – Darla Dean Mifflin Peterson, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away at her Layton home on November 24, 2006 at the age of 77 of causes related to Parkinson’s disease.

She was born on August 6, 1929 in Malad, ID to Howell Hopkin Mifflin and Mae Eliza Rees at the home of her maternal grandparents. She was the beloved big sister of four brothers and a sister.

She graduated from Ogden High School. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

On September 3, 1949 she married Glen Ray Peterson and they made their home in Sunset. Mr. Peterson died in 1994. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple.

Darla had a fun, sweet disposition with a great love and compassion for people. Everyone loved to be around her and her laughter was contagious. She had a beautiful singing voice and her embroidery work was admired by all. She also enjoyed reading, old movies, meteorology, sports and politics.

Darla’s family was the most important thing in her life. She is survived by her children, Alyce Marie Peterson of Layton; Monty Joe Peterson of Washington Terrace; Sovereign Marilyn Alessandri of Ogden; Kelly Dean and Clint Von Peterson of Roy; Joanna Elizabeth (Jason) Allen of Locust Grove, GA; Noel Cooper (Jennifer) Peterson of Colorado Springs, CO; and Christopher Alyn (Julie) Peterson of San Antonio, TX; ten grandchildren, Zachariah and Soren Selley, Jordan Alessandri, Cameron Jensen, Courtney Allen, Marshall, Lydia Kohlton, Mikela and Cooper Peterson and one great-granddaughter, Izzabelle Alessandri.

She is also survived by her sister, Betty M. Bushman of Layton; and three brothers, Terry R. Mifflin of Roy, Gary V. Mifflin of Ogden, and B. Wayne Mifflin of Cedar City.

Funeral services will be held on November 29, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Aaron’s Mortuary & Crematory.

Family and friends may call from 1:00 – 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary prior to the service.

Interment, West Weber Cemetery.
