Genevieve Lilly Larson Peterson passed away on April 21, 2008 at her daughter’s home in Bountiful, UT at the age of 90. She was born on December 3, 1917 to John Helmford Larson and Selma Marie Grell Larson in Pleasant View, ID. She was the fourth of nine children. At the age of 11, the family moved to Vernon, UT and at 16 they moved to Woods Cross where Genevieve graduated from Davis High School. She married Archie Albert Peterson on May 5, 1938.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Archie Albert Peterson; and a daughter, Charlene Horsley (Donald). Also, brothers and sisters, Byron Larsen (Oveda), Elnora Tanner (Marvin), Anton Larsen (Minta), Laurene Stokes (Bill), Carl Larson (Helen) and Robert Larsen (Gloria).

She is survived by her daughter, Clara Mae Overton and son-in-law Adrian Overton; and son-in-law Donald K. Horsley; in addition to eight grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and four step-great great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Doris McOmie (Ed); and one brother, Everett Larson (Thelda).

Genevieve spent most of her life in service to others, starting as a nannie, cook and house maid at a very young age. She worked for the Army Depot during the war and then went to work for Sandy Confectionary where she touched many lives with her humor, kindness and thoughtfulness. When they closed their doors she went to work for Jensen’s Grocery Store. She always had time to make everyone feel special and welcome. She worked for the Fort Douglas Commissary for a short time, and her last job was working for K-Mart, where she worked until she retired. She loved her little home in Sandy, where she spent her entire married life. She prided herself in always being independent and self reliant. She was a woman of amazing compassion and had a great love for her two daughters, Charlene and Clara Mae.

When Genevieve’s memory was not quite so sharp, she still remembered her dear sweet parents and her brothers and sisters and how wonderful and hard working they all were. But her most favorite companion was her little puppy, Lilly Anne, because she never left her side.
She was always there for her.

Funeral services will be held at Goff Mortuary, Midvale, UT on April 26, 2008. Burial will be at the Sandy City Cemetery following the services.
