DOWNEY RESIDENT DIES AT LAVA MONDAY

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday noon at the Downey Second LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Stan Christensen officiating, for Daniel Jones Phillips, 84, lifetime Downey resident, who died Monday afternoon [April 22, 1963] in the Valley View Nursing Home at Lava Hot Springs following a long illness.

Mr. Phillips was born February 14, 1879 at Logan, a son of Phillip and Jane Davis Phillips.

He married Rebecca Frances Ward, April 21, 1904, at Pocatello. She died November 18, 1947.

He was a member of the LDS Church and was engaged in farming.

Survivors include two sons and two daughters, Elmer, Downey; John E., Arco; Mrs. Lynn (Hazel) Evans, Pocatello; Mrs. Frank (Lucy) Lawson, Oakland, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; four brothers, P. M., Davis, Eli, all Idaho Falls; John, Pocatello.

Friends may call at the Benson Funeral Home Wednesday evening and at the Downey Ward Relief Society room after 9 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be in the Downey Cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home.
