Dale Orison, 22, of Arbon, Idaho, died at the Malad hospital Monday at 7 a.m. from injuries received when he was hit by a car on U.S. highway No. 191 six miles south of Malad at 9 p.m. Saturday evening. He received a fractured skull, a broken collar and internal injuries.
As Orison stepped onto the highway leading to the west, he was hit by a car driven south by R. Henelwood of Calgary, Canada. According to information given by the driver and the other occupant of the car, W.T. Wilkinson, also of Calgary, to Sheriff Josephson and Traffic Officer Mose Geddes, Orison probably stumbled and fell just as the car reached him. He was struck by the front bumper. The officers decided the accident was unavoidable.
Orison had called at the Brigham Jones home a short distance from the highway for Miss Sylvia Jones and learning that she was at a neighbors home across the highway, had started for there when hit.
The car stopped immediately and while the driver and Miss Jones, who was just returning home, rendered first aid the other occupant of the car came to Malad for a doctor and an officer.
Orison was brought to the Malad hospital immediately, but never regained consciousness.
The father of the boy who was at Logan, Utah, was summoned immediately and he was with his son until his death.
Dale Orison was born at Arbon, Idaho Feb. 11, 1916, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Orison, who have lived at Arbon for the past 25 years with the exception of the last two winters; which they spent at Logan.
Orison is survived by his parents and following brothers and sisters: Arch Orison, Charles H. Orison, Max Dewaine Orison, Mrs. Harvey Anderson, of Arbon, and Mrs. Max Hatfield of Dayton, Washington.
The body was taken to Logan Monday morning where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon.
The occupants of the Canadian car, who were on their way to California, remained at Malad Saturday night.
