Cumer Green

GREEN, CUMER, October 23, 1920 – June 21, 1944

Cpl. Cumer Green, husband of Verna L. Green, Ogden, and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. T.J. Lewis was killed in France, June 21, 1944 while serving as a paratrooper.

Corp. Cumer Green, husband of Verna L. Green, Ogden, and son of Roy and Elizabeth Green, Kaysville, was killed in France, June 21, while serving as a paratrooper.

Corp. Green entered the army in February, 1940, and was stationed at Camp Roberts, Calif. Two years ago he transferred to the paratroops and received his training at Fort Benning, Ga., and Camp Mackall, N.C.

He left for overseas in December, 1943, and until D-day was stationed in southern England. He was among the first paratroopers to land on French soil at the beginning of the invasion.

A native of Grace, Idaho, he was born Oct. 23, 1920. Twelve years ago the family moved to Kaysville. He attended Davis high school. On March 25, 1943, he married Verna Lewis in Malad, Idaho.

Surviving are his widow, Ogden; his parents, Kaysville, and the following brothers and sisters: John and Mark D. Green of Ogden, Glen Green of Farmington. Mrs. Rebecca Ashbaker and Myrna Green of Kaysville and Mrs. Bertha Adamson of Salt Lake.
