Charlotte Ione Evans Jones, 12 August 1910

Charlotte Ione Evans Jones, 85, of Malad, passed away March 13, 1996 in the Oneida County Nursing Home.

She was born August 12, 1910 in Malad, a daughter of David Parry and Eliza Chivers Evans. She was reared and educated in Malad. On October 2, 1929 she married Dewey T. Jones in Brigham City, UT. He died May 22, 1990.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, a charter member of the Malad Eagles Auxiliary and order of Eastern Star. She served as Oneida County Republican chairwoman for many years.

Mrs. Jones also helped organize the Oneida County Library and served on the board for several years, and she was instrumental in the building of the new library in Malad.

She was an avid bowler, and was the first woman inducted into the Malad Bowlers Hall of Fame. In 1947 she had organized the Oneida County Junior Red Cross. She loved fishing and the outdoors and had enjoyed taking her children and grandchildren fishing.

She is survived by three sons and their spouses, all of Malad; Carol Dewey Jones and wife Deon; David Parry Jones and wife Lurae; Wayne E. Jones and wife, Marilyn; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; four sisters, Maude Jones of Washington; Adele Peterson of Salt Lake City, UT; Gayle Zundel of Sparks, NV; and Elaine Godfrey of Midvale, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, a sister, Denice Hall, and a brother, David Parry Jones.

Funeral services will be held March 18 in the Benson Horsley Funeral Home in Malad. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
