Funeral Monday for C. W. Atkinson

Malad – Funeral services for Charles Waldron Atkinson, 46, who died Friday (6 April 1951) following a lingering illness will be conducted Monday at 1 p.m. In the Malad Second Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bishop A. G. Willie officiated.

Mr. Atkinson was born Dec. 26, 1904, at Samaria, Ida. A son of Alfred Henry and Hannah Waldron Atkinson. He married Ethel Anderson Dec. 5, 1923. He was an elder in the church.

Survivors besides his widow include the following sons and daughters: Emory, Alfred Dale, and Charles Don Atkinson, Mrs. Verlene Illum, and Mrs. Orlene Price all of Malad, and Mrs. Carol Stuart, Firebaugh, Calif. and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call at the family home Sunday evening and Monday until time of services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Malad Floral Service.

Funeral services for Charles Waldron Atkinson, 46, who died at the family home Friday (6 April 1951) after a ten years’ illness were conducted Monday at 1 p.m. in the Malad L.D.S. Second ward chapel. Bishop A. G. Willie presided.

Prayer at the home was offered by Bishop Willie; Mrs. Wanda Napier and Mrs. Thelma Price sang a song; Elmer Price offered the invocation; Jenkin Jones, solo; Bishop John Roderick gave the biography; J. M. Isaacson and Dan Price were the speakers; Fern Willie played a violin solo; Ruel Ipsen, vocal solo, accompanied by Iris Barker; Mrs. Emma Ward played the prelude and postlude and accompanied the musical numbers; Wayne Kent offered the benediction and Dan Hughes dedicated the grave. Interment was in the Samaria cemetery. His six brothers were pallbearers.

Mr. Atkinson was born at Samaria, Idaho, Dec. 26, 1904, a son of Alfred Henry and Hannah Waldron Atkinson. A farmer previous to being invalided, Mr. Atkinson was married to Ethel Anderson, December 5, 1923. He was an Elder in the L.D.S. Church.

He is survived by his widow and the following sons and daughters: Emery Atkinson, Mrs. Verlene Illum, Mrs. Orlene Price, Alfred Dale, Charles Don, all of Malad; Mrs. Carol Steward, Firebaugh, Calif.; and seven grandchildren.
