Pearl Jones Atkinson, 76, died Wednesday, November 10, at the Oneida County Hospital of apparent heart failure.

She was born July 19, 1917, in Malad, a daughter of Albert Davis and Margaret Fairlie Jenkins Jones.
She grew up and was educated in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School. She married William Spencer Atkinson June, 1935, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

They lived for many years in Samaria, where they farmed. In 1974, they moved to Malad. She was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had held many positions there, including missions served with her husband in the Malad Stake and also to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Home Cultural Club.

She is survived by her husband, Williams S. Atkinson, of Malad; one son and his wife, Spencer and Sharon Atkinson, Samaria; five daughters and spouses, Wilma and Grant Williams, Preston; Doris Ann and Gerald John, Logan; Helen and Brent Bastian, Logan; Gae and David Kimberling; and Donna Patterson of Brigham City; 31 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Fairlie Hill
Wood, Pocatello. She was preceded in death by one son, Dee Atkinson, one son-in-law, Gary Patterson, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 13, at the Malad LDS Stake Chapel. Burial was at the Samaria Cemetery.

Funeral services will be held Saturday Nov 13, at 12 noon in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, Bishop
Rex Robbins, officiating. Friends may call at the Stake Chapel 400 N. 200 W., Malad, Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. And on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Samaria Cemetery. Funeral arrangements by Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, Malad.
