Miss Cassie Jenkins Dies Wednesday – 1956
Died 19 Sept 1956
Catherine (Cassie) Jenkins, 64, died at the Oneida Hospital Wednesday night of a heart ailment.
Miss Jenkins was born at Malad Dec. 19, 1891, a daughter of William G. Jenkins and Sarah Jane Jenkins. A graduate of the Academy of Idaho, Pocatello. Miss Jenkins served as librarian of the Malad Public Library for the past 3 years. She was a charter member of the Acacia Chapter of Eastern Star; past Worthy Matron of the Acacia Chapter and at the time of her death was secretary of the organization. Miss Jenkins attended the First Presbyterian Church, Malad; was an active member of the Ladies Aid Society of the Church, at the present time serving as secretary. She was a charter member of the Fine Arts Club of Malad and a member of the Daughters of Idaho Pioneers, Station No. 1, Malad.
Surviving are two brothers, G.L. Jenkins and McKinley Jenkins, Malad.
Funeral services will be conducted at the First Presbyterian Church, Malad, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, with the Rev Bruce Crawford in charge. Friends may call at the family home, 62 South Main St., Friday evening and Saturday until time of service. Interment will be in the Malad City Cemetery under the direction of the Benson Funeral Home. Acacia Chapter of Eastern Star will conduct graveside services.
Thursday, September 27, 1956 Services Saturday For Miss Jenkins
Funeral services for Miss Catherine (Cassie) Jenkins, 64, who died Sept 19th of a heart aliment, were held Saturday at the Malad Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Bruce Crawford officiating.
Musical numbers consisted of prelude and postlude played by Prof. S.M. Powell and vocal solos by Thomas Jones and Jenkin Palmer.
Sermon was delivered by the Rev. Crawford who also gave the prayer at the home, invocation, scripture reading and benediction. Following committal service at the Malad cemetery, graveside rites were conducted by the Acacia Chapter of Eastern Star.
Casket bearers were Roland Evans, Frank Thomas, Morgan W. Tovey, James W.J. Evans, Gilbert Tapper, Albert Bush.
