Carol Gladys Vaughan Semrad, 55, of Malad, died Sunday August 28, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born January 30, 1939 in Malad, a daughter of Donald and Gladys Swenson Vaughan.

She grew up and was educated in Malad. She was a graduate of Malad High School class of 1957, and later attended Stevens-Henager Business College. She married Paul J. Semrad April 21, 1961 in Malad, and the marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1979.

She had worked for Thiokol Chemical Corp. for four years and began employment with the Oneida County School District in 1968. Since 1971 she has been administrative assistant for the Malad High School.

Carol was an active member of the LDS Church, where she had served in various capacities. Recently she was serving on the Stake Primary Board as organist. She loved music, playing the piano and reading.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Semrad of Malad; 2 sons, Jeff and wife Laurene Semrad, of Malad; Michael V. Semrad of Malad; 1 daughter, Shauna K. Madson of Logan, Utah; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; 1 brother, Donald S. Vaughan of Malad; 1 sister, Lois Williams of Salt Lake City, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 31, in the Malad Stake Chapel, with Bishop Jared Crowther officiating. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.

Funeral services for Carole V. Semrad, 55 of Malad, who died Sunday, Aug. 28, 1994, in Salt Lake City, will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 1 p.m. in the Malad LDS Stake Chapel, 400 N. 200 W. Friends may call at the Benson-Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N., Malad, tonight from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Wednesday at the funeral home from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
