J. Arthur Servoss, (1909)

SERVOSS, J. ARTHUR, February 21, 1909 – July 26, 2006

J. Arthur Servoss, 97, longtime Malad resident, died on July 26, 2006 in Malad. He was born February 21, 1909 in Clinton, Utah, a son of Guy and Alice Child Servoss. He served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Michigan, IL. Following his mission he married Helen Irene Buck on March 5, 1931 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. She died June 27, 1987.

He had served in many callings in the church, including Bishop of the Malad 4th Ward. Art had lived in Oneida County for 90 years, where he had farmed and ranched in Malad and Arbon Valley.

He had served as an Oneida County Commissioner, an officer for the Deep Creek Irrigation Co., a member of the Idaho Cattlemen’s Assn. and the Idaho Farm Bureau Assn. Art was also a charter member of the Malad Valley Posse. He is survived by three children: Jack (Janice) of Brigham City, Utah; Jean (Ted) Andra and Rick (Connie) all of Las Vegas, NV; also seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two grandsons and two great-grandsons. Graveside services were held at the Malad City Cemetery on Saturday, July 29, 2006. Family greeted friends at the Horsley Funeral Home prior to services.
