Caleb O. Nibert, age 70, died Sunday at Bannock Memorial Hospital, Pocatello, of natural causes.
Mr. Nibert was born at Malad City on May 12, 1900 to Thomas K. and Martha Jones Nibert. He married Ethel Davis July 22, 1925 in Pocatello.
A salesman, Mr. Nibert was employed by Evans Co-op Department Store for 30 years. He received his education in Malad schools, was a member of First United Presbyterian Church; American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65; A.F. & A.M. Lodge No. 51; Malad Volunteer Fire Department, and was a World War 1 Veteran.
Surviving are his widow, Malad; a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Jean) Murray, Idaho Falls; three grandchildren; a cousin, Carlos D. Jones, Pocatello, who was reared by his parents.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at Malad Second LDS Ward Chapel, and burial was at Malad City Cemetery, directed by Benson Funeral Home.
The family suggests contributions to the Oneida County Hospital and Extended care facility.
Bishop Gordon Crowther officiated. Family prayer was offered by Alfred E. Hargrave; invocation, Reed M. Smith, and benediction, Ben W. Call. Bishop Crowther gave the obituary and William Griff Jenkins delivered the sermon. Helen E. Jones and Jenkin L. Palmer presented vocal solos, accompanied by Myra Jean John who also played prelude and postlude music.
Committal rites were performed by A.F. & A.M. Lodge No. 51. John D. Tovey, Worshipful Master, and military rites and honor guard were provided by American Legion, Ernest W. Jones Post No. 65. Buglers were David John and Larry John.
Honorary bearers were World War 1 Veterans and casket bearers were Albert Bush, H.V. Peden, Frank Thomas, E.L. Scott, Don S. Evans and Herman Housner.
Flowers were arranged by members of Acacia Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Ione Jones Worthy Matron and American Legion Auxiliary, Fern Thomas president.
