Spanish Fork. Sept. 17 – Brigithe Jensen Madsen, widow of James E. Madson of Salem, died Thursday, Sept. 15, 1932 at her home in Salem after a long illness. She was the daughter of Paul M. and Christine Olson Jensen and was born in Denmark, July 23, 1853.

The family immigrated to Utah and she married Mr. Madsen July 6, 1869 in Salt Lake. They moved to Salem to make their permanent home in 1879. Her husband has been dead for a number of years.

She is survived by one daughter; Mrs. Eliner Thomas of Leland and the following sons: James E. and Williams H. Madsen, Payson; Enoch Madsen, Shelley, Idaho; Joseph Madsen, Tremonton; Ervin and Frank Madsen, Malad, Idaho; Elmer L. Madsen, Salt lake; 60 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren also survive.

The body is at the Claudin funeral home and friends may call until Sunday morning when it will be taken to the family home. Services will be held at the Salem ward chapel at 2 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in the Salem cemetery.

Services for Mrs. Brigithe Jensen Madsen, widow of James Madsen of Salem, were held at the Salem ward chapel Sunday at 2 p.m. with Counselor Roscoe Hanks in charge.

The ward choir sang two opening numbers and other musical numbers included a duet by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Taylor of Payson, a solo by Ray Sabin and a closing number by the ward choir. The musical numbers were all request numbers.

Miss Erma Madsen of Salt Lake, a granddaughter, read an original poem. “A Tribute to Grandmother”, composed by Miss Madsen. The speakers were Mrs. Martha Christensen; Ezra Edmon and David Sabin, of Salem; Lee R. Taylor of Payson, president of the Nebo stake, and Mrs. Hanks.

Mrs. Madsen was one of the early pioneers of Utah and of Salem.
