BEAR RIVER CITY_Bonita “Bonnie” John Nelson, 62, wife, mother, grandmother, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. She was born in Malad, ID on November 28, 1947, a daughter and only child to James E. and Mary Yearsley John of Portage, Utah.
Bonnie married Robert (Bob) E. Nelson on November 17, 1967 in the Logan LDS Temple. She was a member of the Bear River 1st Ward. She enjoyed attending the temple and working on family history. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play sports.
Bonnie and Bob were always seen on the sidelines or in the bleachers cheering on their family. She also enjoyed play board/card games with her family and visiting Mesquite to play bingo with her husband, Bob.
She worked several years at Kent’s Market in Brigham City and enjoyed making friends and visiting with people. One of her greatest accomplishments was being a 16 year survivor of breast cancer. Special thanks to Dr. Jan Ashdown and Gregg Wilding for helping her accomplish this special feat.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; five children: Robbie (Kim) Nelson, Brigham City; Brian (Stacie) Nelson, Brigham City; Julee (Joe) Harrison, Brigham City; Darin (Justine) Nelson, Thatcher; Shandee (Mike) O’Neal, Brigham City; and 12 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bear River 1st Ward Chapel, 5870 N. 4700 W., Bear River City.
The family will receive friends and relatives Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on Tuesday from 9:15 to 10:40 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be in the Bear River City Cemetery.
