BLODWIN EVANS THORPE DIED MARCH 19TH

Funeral service was held for Blodwin Evans Thorpe, age 82, who died March 19, 1978 at the Oneida County Hospital of cardiac arrest.

Mrs. Thorpe was born March 11, 1896 at Malad, a daughter of Benjamin D. and Mary Jane Jones Evans. She received her education in the Malad schools and was a graduate of Malad High School and Stevens Henegar Business College, Salt Lake City.

She married Edgar Thorpe on March 23, 1921 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Thorpe was an active member of the LDS Church where she served as a teacher and officer in the First Ward Sunday School, M.I.A., Primary and Relief Society; she served as Relief Society President from 1959-63. She was a Charter member of the World War I Auxiliary and of the Oneida County War Mothers.

Survivors include her husband, Malad; two sons and one daughter; Thurman E. Thorpe, Pueblo, CO; Blair Thorpe, Malad; Mrs. John (Neva Rae) Cambareri, Boise. One son, Ralph, and a daughter, Mary Lou, preceeded her in death.

Service was held at the Malad First Ward Chapel March 22 with Bishop Gordon Griffiths officiating. Family prayer at the Benson Funeral Home was offered by Bishop Thurman Thorpe and on the program at the chapel included the following: Pauline Buehler, prelude and postlude music; Bishop Darrell Swartz, invocation; vocal, June Ward; Robyn Thorpe Knibbe, life sketch; Bishop M. Joe Davis and Bishop Howard Neal, speakers; Bishop Griffiths, remarks; vocal, Grant Evans; Lyle Hess, benediction.

Accompaniment was played by Trudy Ward.

Concluding rites were at the Malad City Cemetery, where Mitchell Deschamps offered the dedicatory prayer. Flowers were cared for by the Malad First Ward Relief Society, Karine Hill, President.

The casket bearers were Ed B. Thorpe, Brent Evanson, Steven Cambareri, Edward Cambareri, Richard Rice and Odell Rice.
