BART J. THORPE DIES AT OGDEN THURSDAY

Funeral services were held Saturday at the malad LDS Third Ward Chapel for Bart Jones Thorpe, 28, North Ogden and former Malad resident, who died February 22, 1973 of natural causes in an Ogden Hospital.

Bishop Phil Gillies officiated at the services. Family prayer was offered by Sheldon Jones; invocation, Bishop Francis Hall; benediction, Verlin Lee; dedicatory prayer at the Malad City Cemetery, J. Thomas Thorpe. Speakers were President Preston Robinson and Bishop Lon W. Corbridge, who gave the obituary and remarks. Musical numbers consisted of a vocal duet, Connie Budge and Lana Esplin; vocal solo, Eldon Corbridge; prelude and postlude music, Trudy Ward. Accompanists were Mrs. Ward and Marty Marriott. Flowers were carried by the Third Ward Relief Society, Ida Smith, president.

Casket bearers were Ron Budge, Ross Kneiting, Ronnie Price, Mike Archibald, Marvin Pett, Fred Waldron, Mike Ward and Lonnie Jones.

Funeral arrangements were directed by Benson Funeral Home.

Mr. Thorpe was born February 7, 1945 at Ogden to William and Reva Jones Thorpe. He married Linda Sue Dougal, August 11, 1967 in the Idaho Falls Temple.

He was a graduate of Malad High School, attended Ricks College in Rexburg and was a graduate of Weber State College in Ogden. He was a teacher at Mound Fort Junior High School in Ogden. He served an LDS Mission in England in 1965-67. Mr. Thorpe was an elder in the North Ogden LDS Fourth Ward.

He is survived by his widow of North Ogden, a daughter, Amy Lyn, North Ogden; parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Verl D. Jones of Malad; three brothers and two sisters, Brent, Twin Falls; Brad, on a Canadian LDS Mission; Brooks and Mrs. Peggy Schwartz, both of Malad; Mrs. Due Dryer, Williams Air Force Base, Arizona.
