Arvilla Blair Smith dies at McCammon

McCammon – Arvilla May Blair Smith, 81, McCammon, died early Sunday at her home.

She was born May 20, 1900, at Murray, Utah, to Frank and Myrtle Herron Blair. She received her early education in Murray. When she was 13, her family moved to Oxford. She attended the Preston Academy. The family later moved to Crystal.

She married Chester Smith December 13, 1919, at Pocatello. They lived and farmed in the Crystal area until 1944 when they moved to McCammon. Mr. Smith died March 16, 1974.

She was active in the LDS Church and the DUP. She was a member of the VFW auxiliary and had special interests in needlework, quilting, reading and flowers.

Survivors include four sons and three daughters, Glenn, Pocatello; Frank, Berkeley, Calif.; Morgan, Arbon; Earl, Grace; Mrs. Berniece Hansen, Malad; Mrs. L.G. (Catherine) Neal, Danville, Calif., and Mrs. Roger (Nancy) Harris, Lakewood, Calif.; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, Ray Blair, Glenns Ferry; Fay Blair, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. Bernice Barron, Buhl; Mrs. Lloyd (Hannah) Brower, Pocatello; and Mrs. Darrel (Florence) Calhoun, Napa, Calif. She was preceded in death by a son, Alvin.

Funeral services were held Thursday in the McCammon LDS Second Ward chapel. Bishop Wayne Morris officiating. Burial was in Pocatello’s Mountainview Cemetery.
