Andie Monson Talbot, (1917)

TALBOT, ANDIE MONSON, December 16, 1917 – May 18, 2006

Andie, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on May 18, 2006 of natural causes. He was born December 16, 1917 in St. John, Idaho, the fourth of nine children of Andrew Melvin Talbot and Miriam Monson Talbot. Andie attended schools in St. John and Malad, graduating from high school in 1935. “Rock”, deemed by his teammates, was captain of the football team, participated in track and field, and also played basketball. He attended Idaho State College for one year.

On May 5, 1938, he married Lillian Elizabeth Thomas in the Salt Lake Temple. They are the parents of three children, 14 grandchildren and 14 ½ great-grandchildren.

Andie and Lil made their home in St. John in the same house that he was born in. He later took over the farm from his father where they milked cows and raised sugar beets and potatoes. He also worked as the St. John water master, and at the U & I Sugar Company.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and served in the St. John Ward Bishopric at one time. Andie loved to visit with family and friends and share humorous stories and jokes. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He also loved to watch the Utah jazz, BYU and Utah. He never missed a game. Seeing others enjoy life made him happy.

Andie is survived by his dedicated and loving wife, Lillian Talbot of Malad, Idaho; sons, Gary (Peggy) Talbot of San Diego, CA and Doyle Talbot of Malad, Idaho; a daughter, Camille (Fred) Uhler of Kirkland, WA; a brother, Lorin Talbot of Blackfoot, ID; and sisters, June Williams of Darlington, ID and Miriel Butler of Meridian, ID. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Oral, Hiriam and Steven; sisters, Zelphia, Shirley; and daughter-in-law, Donna.

Funeral services were held on Monday, May 22, 2006 at 12:00 noon in the St. John LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Bastian officiating. Burial was at the St. John Cemetery.
