AGNES GIBSON PALMER

MALAD – Agnes Gibson Palmer, 71, 203 E. 50 South, Malad, died Friday [Jan. 4, 1985] at the Oneida County Hospital.

She was born Oct. 24, 1913, in Terre Haute, Ind.[sic], to David James and Eliza Ann Challenger Gibson. While she was a young girl, her family moved to the Daniels area near Malad where her father had homesteaded a farm. She received her education in Daniels and later in Malad.

She married Golden Palmer July 23, 1931, in Brigham City, Utah. They lived in Malad a short time before moving to Aberdeen in 1932. During World War II she lived in Malad while her husband served in the Armed Forces. She worked at the Malad Laundry. When he returned home, she moved back to Aberdeen, where they resided until 1982. Since then, they have lived in Malad.

She was a member of the LDS church and enjoyed cooking and knitting.

She is survived by her husband, Malad; a son, Larry Palmer, Pocatello; two daughters, Mrs. Ron (Maxine) Lewis, Garden Grove, Calif.[sic]; Mrs. Martin (Sandy) Chandler, Ketchum, Idaho; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eli Gibson, Pocatello; Don Gibson; Tremonton, Utah; Glen Gibson, Phoenix, Ariz.[sic]; three sisters; Mrs. Lillian Archibald, Mrs. Elsie Thomas, and Mrs. Tom (Lila) Thorpe, Malad. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at Benson-Horsley Funeral Home in Malad with Bishop Clarence Kent officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday prior to services. Burial will be in the Malad City Cemetery.
