MALAD – Eunice Afton Rose Davis, 68, St. John, died Tuesday (03 Jan 1984) at the Uah (Utah) Valley Hospital in Provo of cancer.

She was born Feb. 21, 1915, in Hyrum, Utah, to Joseph Walter and LaVina Allen Rose. While she was still a child, the family moved to Pocatello Valley, west of Malad, where they homesteaded a farm. She was educated in Malad and was a graduate of Malad High School. She later attended beautician school in Salt Lake City.

She married Thomas Dale Davis Sept. 1, 1937, in Malad. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1965. After their marriage, they moved to St. John where they farmed and ranched. She was trained as a licensed practical nurse and worked at Oneida County Hospital.

She was active in the LDS Church, serving as Relief Society president, on the stake Relief Society board, as ward Primary president, and as YWMIA president. She taught in all the auxiliary organizations. She enjoyed genealogy and all kind of handwork.

Survivors include three sons, Terrel, Parley, and Joy Ray Davis, all of Malad; a daughter, Mrs. Kent (Lynette) Grange, Orem, Utah; 10 grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. W.W. (LaRue) Thomas, Bountiful. Utah; Mrs. Jack (Emojene) Harenberg, Sun City, Arizona; and Mrs. Dan (Merl) Williams and Mrs. Reed (Phyllis) pope (Pope), both of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by two sisters.

Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Friday at the St. John LDS Ward chapel with Bishop Jerry Bush officiating. Burial was in Malad City Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis was born February 21, 1915 in Hyrum, Utah and passed away January 3, 1984 at Provo, Utah.

The family prayer was offered by Dan C. Williams. Donna Talbot played the prelude and postlude music, the invocation was given by Rauhn Panting.

Diana Davis gave Eunice’s life sketch and tribute followed by a vocal “That Wonderful Mother of Mine” sung by Helen E. Jones. She was accompanied by Patsy Bybee.

W.W. Thomas spoke after which a vocal duet was sung by Carol Daniels and Connie Budge “Beyond the Sunset”. They were accompanied by Patsy Bybee.

Bishop Dell Tuttle then spoke, followed by the benediction given by Bishop Gene Edwards.

Concluding rites were at the Malad City Cemetery where Reed Pope gave the dedicatory prayer.

Casket bearers were Tarrel Davis, Joe Ray Davis, Dale Thomas, Terry Davis, Parley Davis, Shawn Davis, Tony Davis, Kent Grange.

Flowers were cared for by the St. John Relief Soceity (sp. Society), Nancy Panting, President.
