
ACE VERNELL HANSEN
JEROME – Ace Vernell Hansen, 83, of Jerome and Twin Falls, passed away April 19, 2011 at St. Luke’s Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls surrounded by his family. Ace was born September 16, 1927 in Malad, Idaho, the son of Sylvester and Mary Rasmussen Hansen. He grew up in Malad and attended schools in Malad until 1941, when his family moved to Ogden, UT. Following high school, Ace entered into the U.S. Navy, where he served his country proudly as a chief petty officer in World War II and the Korean Conflict. The family moved from Ogden to Soda Springs, ID, when Ace acquired the Chevrolet dealership in 1958. They owned and operated the dealership for 12 years before moving to Twin Falls to run the Ace Hansen Chevrolet dealership in 1970. The dealership was on Main Street for a time until they build the existing Chevrolet dealership on the corner of Pole Line Road and Blue Lakes Boulevard. Ace and Lois owned and operated the dealership along with their family until 1985 when their son, Randy, took over ownership. Ace retired for three months and found himself right back into heavy duty truck sales with the opening of Ace Hansen Truck Sales that is operated to this day in Jerome.
On June 12, 1947, Ace married the love of his life, Lois Bullock in the Salt Lake Temple. To this union four children were born, Nick, Jolene, Randy and Cori. Ace loved the game of golf and bowling; he enjoyed the many games and rounds with family and friends. His love was his family and spending time with them was always a highlight in his day. Ace was honored to be on the Chevrolet Dealer National Council three different times.
Ace is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois Hansen of Jerome; his three children, Nick (Lois) “Babe”) Hansen of Jerome, Randy (Kathy Jo) Hansen of Brigham City, UT, and Dee (Gerry) Hansen of Ogden, UT; his three sisters, Drew Aldous of Ogden, UT; Mary (Calvin) Mansfield of Salt Lake City, UT; and Lona Draper of Hooper, UT. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant daughter; Jolene Hansen; two brothers, Lilo Hansen and Boyd Hansen; and one sister, Verda Beromeo.
A celebration of Ace’s life will be held at 2 p.m. at the Jerome LDS Stake Center, Jerome, with Bishop Rick Geist conducting and military honors by area veterans and Idaho National Guard. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls.
