COLLEEN BALLARD HANSEN

TREMONTON – Colleen Ballard Hansen, our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away at her home in Tremonton, UT on October 16, 2011. She was born March 22, 1928 to Guy Edward and Lillian Ellaree Andrews Ballard in Tremonton, UT at the family home. She attended McKinley Elementary, Bear River High and Utah State University. On February 14, 1949 Colleen married Alma Rex Hansen in the Logan LDS Temple and they were blessed with four children.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and gave her life in the service of her family, friends and those who were fortunate to know her. She loved the Lord and served faithfully in many callings throughout her life, including ordinance worker in the Logan Temple and as a missionary in the Utah Valley Regional Family History Center Mission. She also served as a Stake missionary.

She was admired by her family for her example of hard work. She worked as a seamstress, school cook, at the Soil Conservation Service, Thiokol and at Hill Air Force Base, earning numerous special awards for exemplary service.

Collen is survived by one son and two daughters, David Hansen; Kathleen (Todd) Miller; Nancy (Gordon) Birch; and by one sister, LouJean Wise; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Michael, and husband, A. Rex; sisters, Dorothy Harris, Euphenia Ballard (infant); and brother Denzil Ballard.

Friends and family may call at the Rudd Funeral Home, Garland, UT on October 21, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on October 22, from 11 – 12 p.m. Graveside service will be held at the Tremonton Cemetery on October 22, 2011 at 1:00 p.m.
