LAMONT JUNIOR WELLS

TREMONTON, UT – Lamont Junior Wells passed away peacefully May 16, 2011 at home, attended by his loving and gentle wife, Glenda.

He was born February 23, 1930 in Brigham City, UT to Ezra Lamont and Lillie Annie Rowher Wells. He was raised in Willard and attended Box Elder high School.

At the age of 17, Lamont joined the Army, where he served as a supply sergeant in Korea. Upon his honorable release from military duty he returned to Utah where he met Ingeborg Waechtler. They were married April 15, 1954 in the Logan LDS Temple and lived in Smithfield while he finished his degree at USU.

Lamont and Inge lived in Roosevelt, UT, where Lamont began a teaching career at Union High. Determined to provide well for his family, Lamont supplemented his income with work at the Hullinger Pepsi Bottling Co., where he became lifelong friends of the Hullinger family. He moved to Tremonton in 1960 and taught at Bear River Jr. High and Bear River High School.

After Inge passed away in 1996, Lamont married Glenda Sorge, November 2, 2004. They were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple in 2006. We are grateful for the love and care Glenda has given to our father and our family for the past seven years.

Lamont had a passion for education and missionary work. He completed his Masters degree at USU and served a mission with Inge to Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh. He and Glenda served as local missionaries supporting and housing many missionaries, both financially and spiritually.

Lamont is survived by Glenda and his eight children: Richard (Denise) Wells, Thatcher; Christine (Larry) Holmes, Willard; Mike (Rosemary) Wells, Malad; David (Alice) Wells, Lava Hot Springs; Roger (LaDawn) Wells, Willard; Douglas (Tamara) Wells, Tremonton; Sabrina (Kent) Wayment, Garland; and Rodny (Gina) Wells, Tremonton; 30 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Darlene (Del) Jensen; Karen (Edward) Peterson and Janene Vest (Brent Johnson). He is also survived by seven step-children and 26 step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by parents, wife, Inge, and brother, Vern.

The family would like to express special thanks to Primrose Home Health Care and Hospice, friends and neighbors for their kind service.

Funeral services will be held May 20, 2011 at the Tremonton South Stake Center. Interment will follow in the Willard Cemetery where military honors will be accorded.
