Udy_Edith_21 June, 1921
Edith Owens Udy passed away peacefully at the Bear River Valley Care Center surrounded by her loving family on April 6, 2009. She was born June 21, 1921 in Devil Creek, Idaho to John Harding Owens and Merella Blanch Jones. She married her “handsome sweetheart” Verl Thomas Udy on May 31, 1940 in Malad, Idaho. They were seal in the Logan Temple on September 22, 1942.
Edith served as President of YWMIA and as counselor in the Primary and various other callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in the Fielding Guild Club and served as president. While her children were growing up, she was involved in the Fielding PTA and served as secretary. She completed her cosmetology training in 1963 and owned and operated her own business for 17 years. Edith had a great talent for knitting and crocheting, and many family and friends were recipients of her talents. She was an avid bowler in her younger years, and in later years an enthusiastic Jazz fan. In her spare time she loved to read and do word searches. Edith devoted her time and energy to supporting her husband and children in chariot racing, trading horses, and rodeos. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always ready with an ice cream cone. She will be remembered for loyalty to family and friends, quick wit, and her strength to endure to the end.
She is survived by twin sister, Ella Apgood, daughters: Verlene (Lyle) Watson, Kayla (John) McClellan; sons Owen (Linda Kay), Boyd (Kris), Jess (Georgia), 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Verl, granddaughter Patti Jo Watson, three brothers and three sisters.
