VIOLET S. UDY

WASHINGTON TERRACE – God knew that you were suffering, that hills were hard to climb, so He gently closed your eyelids, and whispered, “Peace be thine”. In tears we watched you sinking, we watched you fade away, our hearts were nearly broken, you fought so hard to stay. It broke our hearts to have you go, but you did not go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

Violet S. Udy died Saturday, October 8, 2005 at home of causes incident to age.

She was born October 25, 1906, in Riverside, Utah, a daughter of Fredrick and Alvira Bigler Silvester.

Violet married Clifton James Udy on June 23, 1927, in Brigham City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on March 26, 1941. He died July 5, 1967.

She was raised in Plymouth, Utah and graduated from Bear River High School. She also lived in California and Idaho before moving to Ogden in 1954.

Violet was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Washington Terrace 4th Ward. She served in many church callings and was a visiting teacher for over 60 years.

She was an avid homemaker and an expert seamstress for a time and she and her friend decorated and catered weddings.

Surviving are two sons and three daughters, Melvyn (Joyce), Ogden; Mervyn, Arvada, CO; Floris Webb, Ogden; Beverly Kley, Ogden; June ( Clyde) Argo, Las Vegas, NV; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Wendell Silvester, Gallatin Gateway, MT; Dan Silvester, Ogden; Lily Hess, Malad, ID; Leah Foster, Lakewood, CA.

She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Theo Maisey of the Washington Terrace 1st Ward Chapel.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Interment, Plymouth Cemetery.
