Verl A. Tubbs, 93, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away Monday, May 10, 2010 at Bingham Memorial Hospital.
Verl was born November 3, 1916 in Holbrook, Idaho to William Albert and Katherine Johnson Tubbs. He was the sixth child out of eleven. He grew up in Holbrook and received his education in Malad.
He married the love of his life, Alta Ann Tubbs on August 29, 1938, in American Falls. Together Verl and Ann had five sons and five daughters, who were the light of their lives. Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in Holbrook for eight years. They moved to Malad where they farmed for five years. In 1949, they moved to Wapello, where they farmer for 16 years. He was living Wapello at the time of his death.
He worked for the Blackfoot School District for many years until his retirement. In his free time, Verl enjoyed camping, fishing and going in the truck with his son, Delbert, seeing almost all of the 48 states together. He enjoyed spending time with his children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Verl was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he was an Elder.
Verl is survived by three sons; Vernon (Penny) Tubbs of Aberdeen; Ervin (Susan) Tubbs of Pocatello and Delbert (Beth) Tubbs of Blackfoot; three daughters, Dena K. Tubbs, Lori (James) Neff, and Verla R. (James Decker) Tubbs, all of Blackfoot; three brothers: Orvil, Earl and Junior; two sisters: Golda and Hazel; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Alta Ann; parents; a son, Jerry Tubbs; daughters, Colleen Guscott and Rowene Christensen; and a stillborn son; brother, Dean; sisters, Alta, Letha, Ireta and Ardella; three grandchildren, LouAnn Duncan, James William Neff and Joshua Matthew Tubbs; and great-grandchild, Aliyah Anne Kesler.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 South Shilling Avenue in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
