Bonita Townsend, 81 died Sunday, April 13, in Kamiah, Idaho of natural causes related to age. She was born September 30, 1915, to Herbert Ray and Alma Rena Leverett Miller, Joplin, Missouri. She was reared and attended schools in Tucson, Arizona.
She married Robert Agustus Townsend, June 13, 1936, in Tucson. They lived in California most of their lives. She was a Hospice Care giver for the terminally ill. She also enjoyed decorating cakes. After suffering a stroke in 1994, she lived in Malad with a grandson and in the Oneida County Long Term Care Center. Her last years were spent living with her daughter in Kamiah.
She is survived by four daughters: Patsy Bowen, Kamiah; Bonigene Colbert, Klamath Falls, Oregon; Gayle Eastman, Stockton, California; Kathleen Soward, Redding, California; three sons; Michael Townsend, Phoenix, Arizona; Robert Townsend, Jr.; Missoula, Montana; Thomas Townsend, Bend, Oregon; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994 and a son, Mark Townsend.
A funeral service was held in Kamiah April 17, and a grave side service April 21 in Brown’s Valley, California.
