Gary Dee Tovey, 55, died Friday, May 30, 1997, in the Franklin County Medical Center due to complications from diabetes.
He was born on July 27, 1941, in Montpelier, and is the oldest child of DeVere and Lora Butler Tovey. Gary spent his younger years growing up on a farm in Malad. The family moved to Preston in 1959, and Gary graduated from Preston High School. Except for a short time when attending a heavy equipment school in Weiser, Gary lived in Preston the rest of h is life.
He married Nancy Naef in 1973 and they later divorced.
He loved old cars and enjoyed going to car shows. He spent many enjoyable hours visiting with his friends and liked working on his collections.
Survivors include is parents, DeVere and Lora Butler Tovey of Preston, a son, Gary Boyd Tovey (wife Jenny) and two grandchildren of Salt Lake City, Utah; and two sisters and their spouses and families, Raida and Richard Jensen of Caldwell and d Joyce and Brent Terry of Idaho Falls.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 3, at 12 noon in the Preston Third Ward chapel, 155 North Second West, with Counselor Thane Winward conducting. Friends may call on the family at the chapel on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. or Tuesday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Malad Cemetery.
