Raymond Thorpe, Jr., 8 April 1930

KIMBALL – Raymond Thorpe, Jr., 72, Kimball, died September 2, 2002 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from an extended battle with cancer.

He was born April 8, 1930 in Pleasantview to Raymond and Pearl Atkinson Thorpe.

He married Gloria Jean Hencley in Elko, NV in 1953. They were later divorced. He then married Dorothy Phillips Ward on September 1, 1979.

He worked as a heavy equipment operator and farmer. He enjoyed rock hunting, making jewelry, working around his garden and home and taking long drives.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, Kimball; two sons, Raymond (Peggy), Blackfoot and Dennis (Becky), Moreland; three daughters, Debbie (Douglas) Rupe, Blackfoot; Jackie (Lane) Marley, Chubbuck, and Becky (Scott) Freeman, Blackfoot; stepchildren, Talma (Stephen) Myer, Salt Lake City; Clade (Rosita) Ward, Blackfoot; Sena (Steven) Delk, Glendale, AZ; and Philip (Edith) Ward, Blackfoot; four sisters, Dorothy (George) Giannini, Idaho Falls; Norma Sieba, Colleen Dial, Firth, and Pearl Butler; four brothers, Joseph (Lee) Thorpe, Boyd (Elise) Thorpe, Reed (Sherri) Thorpe and Dean Thorpe; 17 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gloria Jean Thorpe (Reed); his parents and a stepson, Michael Ward.

There will be a graveside service Thursday at Grove City Cemetery.
