Elsie “Nana” Thomas, 81, died August 27, 1987 in Pocatello following a stroke.
She was born March 23, 1906 in Bicknell, Indiana to David and Eliza Challenger Gibson. She moved to Malad in 1917 where she received her education.
She married Samuel Thomas Oct. 10, 1923 in Malad. He died May 22, 1981.
She was a member of the LDS Church and in her earlier years worked in the Primary.
She was a charter member of the Eagle’s Auxiliary and a member of the Poinsettia Bridge Club for many years. She had taken an active interest in the Senior Citizens Center in Malad.
She is survived by one son, Monte Thoms, Ontario, CA; two daughters, Mrs. Boyd (Faye) Jones and Mrs. Norma J. Thomas, borh of Malad; ten grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; three brothers, Eli Gibson, Pocatello; Glen Gibson, Phoenix, AZ and Don Gibson, Tremonton, UT; and two sisters, Mrs. Lillian Archibald and Mrs. Tom (Lila) Thorpe, both of Malad. She was preceded in death by one son, two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were held Saturday in the Malad Fifth Ward LDS Chapel with Bishop Frank Gunnell officiating. Burial was in the Malad City Cemetery.
