OGDEN — Estella Irene Harris Pierce, 99, died Monday, May 27, 1991 at a local nursing home.

She was born Jan. 31, 1892 in Woodruff, Idaho, a daughter of Everett and Margaret Ann John Harris.

She married John M. Pierce on Dec. 24, 1912 in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 28, 1924. He died July 29, 1968.

She was reared and educated in Malad, Idaho and had also lived in Cherry Creek and St. John, Idaho. She moved to Ogden in 1942.

She was a member of the Ogden 8th LDS Ward. In Malad, Idaho, she served in the Relief Society Presidency and as a work director. She served as a visiting teacher for 60 years.

She had a love for music and sang at weddings, funerals and in the Ward Choir.

Surviving are three sons, Everett and daughter-in-law LaNetha Pierce, Roy; John M. Pierce, Laie, Hawaii; Garth and daughter-inlaw Ann Pierce, Roy; 15 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren. and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Verl (Vera) Jones, Malad, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by one son, Cleon Pierce and one daughter, Lorraine Hughes; seven brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Jeffrey Bingham of the Ogden 8th Ward officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 10 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
