Funeral services were conducted Monday at the Malad Fourth LDS Ward Chapel for Mrs. Olive Olson Nielsen, age 83, who died March 2nd at Ogden.
Bishop Darrell Swartz officiated. Family prayer was offered by Glen Ray Willie; invocation, Robert Ned Willie; benediction, Bishop Colen H. Sweeten, Jr.. Speakers were Patriarch Moyle Facer, Bishop Swartz, Bishop Bert Stevenson; Laura Jones, who gave a War Mother tribute and Sharon Neal Carlisle, who read the obituary and a tribute. Special music included a medley by Barbara Willie and a vocal quarter, Wells and Marsha Willie, Don and Carol Eliason, accompanied by iris Hill. Prelude and postlude music was played by Pearl Stuart.
Burial was in Brigham City Cemetery where the dedicatory prayer was offered by Farrell Neal. Flowers were arranged by members of the Fourth Ward Relief Society and Oneida County War Mothers.
Casket bearers were Rex Nielsen, Wayne Nielsen, Larry Dillie, Fred Kotter, Jay Carlisle and Ralph Clark.
Benson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Nielsen was born Nov. 5, 1889 at Mount Pleasant, Utah to John Stohl and Ellen Olson Olson. She married James Peter Nielsen, Jan. 4, 1911, in the Logan LDS Temple. He died Jan. 26, 1968.
The couple homesteaded at Holbrook and farmed there until 1944 when they moved to Malad to make a home. She was an active member of the LDS Church, past president of the American War Mothers, Oneida Chapter, an honorary member of the Volunteer Air Observer Corps, U.S. Civil Defense.’
Survivors include two sons and two daughters: Harold J. Nielsen, Rupert; Albert C. Nielsen and Mrs. Farrell (Carolyn) Neal, both of Malad; Mrs. Norman (Verda) Wadsworth, Liberty, Utah. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
