Reed Owen Nielsen, 43, of Portage, Utah died March 20, at his home in Portage of apparent heart failure.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, in the Portage Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Portage Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were by Rogers Mortuary of Tremonton.
He was born March 19, 1937 in Malad, to Joseph Reed and Isabelle Owens Nielsen. He married Aleta May Wharton September 19m 1958 at Malad. He was a graduate of Bear River High School and attended Utah State University in Logan. He was a member of the Portage LDS Ward. He worked as a farmer and rancher in Portage. He had also worked at U & I Sugar in Garland for many years. He had been a director the Northern Utah Farmers Grain.
Survivors include his wife of Portage, one son and two daughters: Scott Reed Nielsen, Natalie Nielsen and Keeley Nielsen, all of Portage; one son, Wesley Owen preceded him in death. Also surviving are his parents of Portage; two brothers and one sister, Alan Nielsen of Logan, Steven Ray Nielsen of Garland and Mrs. Gary (Jean) Cannon of North Ogden.
