Marcus Lefgren Jensen, 28 June 1912
FONTANA, CA –Marcus L. Jensen, 84, formerly of Boise, ID and Portland, OR, passed away December 23, 1996 in Fontana, CA.
He was born June 28, 1912 in Idaho Falls, ID to Andrew Christian and Emma Christina Anderson Jensen. Reared and educated in Idaho Falls, he attended Brigham Young University, Idaho State University and the University of Idaho, graduating with a degree in civil engineering. He married Ann Lona Elliott on August 16, 1939 in Salt lake City, UT. They were later divorced.
He was Superintendent of the C.C.C. Corps in eastern Idaho before being transferred to Boise in 1942. With the outbreak of World War II, Marc joined the Navy, serving as the commander of an LST in both the Atlantic and the Pacific theaters. He returned to Boise and was in the construction business until 1967 when he moved to Portland, OR to be a contract engineer for the Forest Service. He most recently has resided in Apple Valley, CA with his son, Gar.
Marcus was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved to serve in the Seattle and Portland Temples.
He is survived by two sons, Calvin M. Jensen of Cambridge, MS and Gar Elliott (Jann) Jensen of Apple Valley, CA; a daughter, Sharon Ann (David) Harris of Caldwell and Malad, ID; six grandchildren, Shaina Jensen, Erica Goyer and Camden, Alexis, Megan and Jan Jensen; and one great grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Reed H. Jensen and one great grandson.
Funeral services will be held January 4, 1997 at the Benson Horsley Funeral Home in Malad, ID prior to interment in Idaho Falls, ID.
