Royal Baker Jensen, 1 October 1905

Royal Baker Jensen, 90, of Smithfield, died June 15, 1996 at the Logan Regional Hospital. He was born October 1, 1905 in Malad, a son of James Peter and Laura Baker Jensen. He married Maude Yearsley on June 24, 1931 in the Logan LDS Temple. He received his education in Malad and attended Malad high School.

He was a farmer and rancher in Malad before moving to Smithfield. He was active in the LDS Church and had served eight years in a Bishopric, also in a Sunday School Presidency and was a dedicated home teacher for 65 years.

Survivors include his wife of Smithfield; six children and their spouses: Arlis and Cecil Sweeten of Bountiful; Larry James Jensen of Logan; Melba and Richard Hill of Bountiful; Stanley Karl and Catherine Jensen of Malad; Stewart Allen and Ardis Jensen of Elko, NV; Sheila and Lynn Capener of Riverside, UT; one daughter in law, Mrs. Royal Duane (Janet) Jensen of Malad, ID. He is also survived by 40 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; one brother, A. Rex Jensen of Malad; and two sisters, LaRue Savage of Idaho Falls, ID and Mary Elleen Jensen of Ucon, ID. He was preceded in death by a son, Royal Duane, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held June 20 in the Smithfield Stake Center with Bishop Martin Blair conducting. Burial will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
