ELLSWORTH, ED
One of four men who were victims of carbon monoxide poisoning May 16, 1963 was Ed Ellsworth, 70, the father of Mrs. LaVar Bowen, Malad. The accident occurred in Henry’s Canyon, 14 miles southwest of Idaho Falls.
The victims were found Tuesday and had been unnoticed since Sunday when the car in which they were found had gotten stuck Saturday evening. They had apparently decided to stay in the car as the ignition was on and the motor had quit after running out of gas. They had become asphyxiated as the car’s exhaust pipe had mired in the mud, causing the deadly fumes to seep into the car.
